Kitchen Remodeling Part 2

Here it is the second part of my kitchen remodeling.
Here I am finishing in installing the tiles.

After all the tiles were set in place and the grouts were dry. I applied the sealer.

On the other side of the counter it's the the bar side. Here, we have not put the counter yet or the walls. Here just shows the wiring for the electricity and outlets.

After putting up the wall, My hubby started putting the decorative finishing touches, so it doesn't look plain.

After that, I went ahead and stain the wood natural color to a darker tone. That way it matches the kitchen cabinets.
Please, do not mind my awful clothes and my funny face ;-)

The old linoleum floor was pulled out.

And the old floor was replaced by these awesome tiles.
Sorry I don't have more pictures of every step we had worked on.

Putting more grout to seal the cracks.
Again... please don't mind the awful scrunchy I was wearing. This pic was taken a few years ago when I had no sense of fashion or hair style. Just looking at this pictures makes me say... yikes!!. ;-)

The other side of the kitchen. Old floor being removed.

Here everything it's done. Grout on floor still being worked on. The back splash on the kitchen it's done. Installed new sink. Added new flat stove (easy to clean).

Here it shows the other side of the kitchen were there used to be a wall. Now we had opened it up and added a bar counter height to the other side. Plus it gives a lot more natural light to the kitchen.

Here, our kitchen it's DONE!!
Hope you enjoyed reading this post.

Kitchen remodeling Part 1

Today, I am going to show you something different. Since I have been posting pictures of only clothes, I would like you to know that I also like to do stuff like Do It Yourself proyect. I know.. I know... this proyect is no small proyect, it is actually huge.  These pics are from a while back, before we had kids, and you can see that we had plenty of time to remodel a complete house. Yes! we did it just the two of us (meaning my husband and I). It was a lot of work but it was worth it, because everytime I see what we have done with the place I feel proud of it that we were able do this BIG remodeling.

Ok. Let's start!  The picture above is after we took all of the doors from the cabinets.

Here, we had just removed the top cabinets and partially the ones below. We kept the sink and dishwasher because we needed the water.
As you can see the walls look terrible!

Then, we installed the top cabinets. But before we put anything up, we painted the walls and the ceiling white.

Here, we had already removed the old counter and sink and installed the new one. Sorry I don't have more pictures of every details we were working on.
Notice the cabinet on top of the sink are slightly higher, that way it gives you more room for the heads, so we don't bump it while washing out hands or washing the vegetables. ;-)
Applying some glue to put another layer of wood.

This is the other side of the kitchen. Here, there used to be a wall all the way to the ceiling. We removed the wall and made it half way to make a bar height counter, plus it opened up the kitchen more and it was brighter since the game room (originally family room) that is located right next to the kitchen had lots of windows and would enter a lot of natural light.

Here we added more counters to have more work space. Before we had no counters on this side of the kitchen. We only had a little breakfast table (as seen above pic). Here, added more storage and a bar height counter looking to the game room (not seen here yet). Also, we added extra outlets to plug the blender and make our mix drinks. ;-)
Here applying more glue to put another layer of wood.  Please don't mind my awful clothes, these were the times when I was not fashionable at all... plus, these were working clothes. :-)

Seeing some progress.  Now, installing the tiles and making sure not to leave big gaps and leveling the tiles so they don't turn out crooked. I must say we did a pretty good job because the tiles were really flat and straight.
My husband did the black corners. I was afraid I was going to do it crooked, but he did a great job installing those, after he did that it was easy for me to go from there.

Thank you so much if you are reading these posts. I hope you are enjoying reading my experiences. Have a great day!

Color Blocking

I wore this colorful outfit and felt happy the moment I put it on. The colors are so vibrant, too bad the pictures are not showing how vibrant they really are. Either my camera is not good enough or I have the wrong settings, but let me just tell you that these pictures are not doing justice to the colors.

Every time I take my kids to their gymnastics class I don't know what to wear, I really like to wear dresses at this time of year because they are comfortable, but following the kid in his gymnastic class?.... plus I like to do some of the exercise my kids do :-)... so skirts or dresses are not really ideal for that.  So this shorts seemed perfect for the occasion.  Also, since I have been feeling a little uncomfortable wearing shorts the past few times, it seems that I got over it, because I love wearing shorts again. :-)

I wore other sandals to go to the gym because I didn't have time to put on my shoes, plus I had to take them off when we got into the class. After the class I change into these babies and went to pick up some stuff at my Dentist Office. Then I went to H&M and drag my kids with me. :-)

Walking around with this outfit made me feel sexy. I don't know if people were looking at me because of the vibrant color of my outfit or the over exposed lady with 2 kids, imagine myself holding the hand of a toddler while pushing a stroller with the other hand and walking in high heels.  That is exercise for you my friend. :-)

Printed Dress & Vintage Bracelet

I wore this dress a couple month ago. This time I am wearing it a little different, I just pulled up my hair and wore different shoes. there is not much I can add to this dress, no belt or scarf... it already has a busy pattern that doesn't need more stuff on top.

For accessories I just added a Fleur de Liz earrings and a vintage bracelet.

Bracelet: Vintage (garage sale)

This bracelet I purchased it at a garage sale. It actually is a choker but I like it better as a bracelet, I just wrap it twice to my wrist and fits perfect. I paid $5.00 for it. I think I could of paid less but it was my mistake to tell the person that I was going to use it as a bracelet because they were selling a lot of stuff and they were trying to get rid of everything. Anything they didn't sell, they loaded to a truck and straight to Goodwill.
But, I can't complain about the price. It is pure silver with really nice details, and the tiny beads are crystals. Score!

A - Line Skirt

Not much to say about this outfit. Just a plain white blouse, A-line skirt and nude pumps.

I am not saying much today because I have so many things in my head and lot of things to do, I get kind of freaked out when I have a lot of stuff to do and I don't know where to start. Plus, I was waiting for my daughter's school to send us the school supplies list, I just kept waiting and nothing... I just found out that I have to search myself in their website and hunt for the school supplies.... and they didn't even send an e-mail to tell us we should do that. You know... I am not familiar with this process, but if at least they would have guided us a little.
Now, school starts next week and I am off to buy the school supplies and maybe uniforms too. Arghhh!!
You can see I am very prepared.

Stepford Wife

This is what I wore to go grocery shopping. Yes! I got all dolled up just to go grocery shopping and took with me my two kids too. It is a little challenging to go with 2 kids but they were such goods kids.

Wearing this dress made me feel like a Stepford Wife. Have you seen that movie with Mathew Broderick and Nicole Kidman? Every time I watch that movie I feel like I want to be like that. I don't mean the robot kind or do whatever your husband tells you to do, but I would like to be the kind of woman that has the house very organize and clean, do all the chores and take care of everyone with love while looking fabulous and stylish. While in my case, my house is a disaster, it seems like a tornado passes by every other day with toys all over. Bedroom and bathroom? A mess. Kitchen? don't ask. The only room that is really neat is the living room, because that is where I receive my guests. :-)

While at the grocery store I must say that I did turn quite a few heads. They were probably admiring my nice outfit, or either they were looking at the crazy woman who got too dressed up just to go grocery shopping. :-)

I always used to saved my clothes for special occasions but those occasions never came. So, I decided to wear all the clothes I have saved all this time for my everyday wear. What if I die tomorrow? (knock on wood) I would of missed of wearing my nice clothes, if I die at least I would look fabulous.

Black and White & Zebra Stripes

This is what I wore on the weekend, something casual and very comfortable.
I really love this skirt. The first time I saw it was on Paris Hilton, but she was wearing pink, and I decided to get it in white. You cannot really see the details of the skirt but it has zippers, strings, cargo pockets and ruffles.... I know, I know, it might sound like a lot of stuff in one piece of cloth, but it is not, in fact it is awesome!.

And about my purse? I got it at Nordstrom, it is a Nordstrom brand. It is made of authentic leather and faux zebra hair, very sturdy and just beautiful.
I know most of the items I buy are from Nordstrom, but what can I say? I love the store and I always check the website to see what's new. Yes! I am a very good customer of them.

My tank top is very casual with a touch of elegance? Uhmm.. I don't know how to describe it but, the logo you see on my top is made of embedded rhinestones, and when the sun hits it, it makes beautiful color reflexions on the wall or any surface. Darn my camera! it cannot show the details very clear. Arghhhh.
